Dispersion management method and system for optical transceivers

A computer system associated with an optical transceiver, the computer system comprising one or more processors and one or more computer-readable non-transitory storage media coupled to one or more of the processors and comprising instructions operable when executed by one or more of the processors to cause the computer system to perform operations comprising:

• receiving an output from a digital signal processor of the optical transceiver;
• determining a difference between the received output and an initial target output;
• based on determining that the difference between the received output and the initial target output exceeds a threshold, tuning a temperature of a dispersion management device of the optical transceiver across a temperature range;
• receiving a plurality of outputs from the digital signal processor during the temperature tuning across the temperature range;
• selecting an adjusted target output from the plurality of received outputs based on the temperature tuning across the temperature range;
• and
• sending instructions to adjust the temperature of the dispersion management device to an adjusted target temperature corresponding to the adjusted target output.

One or more computer-readable non-transitory storage media embodying software that is operable when executed, by a computer system associated with an optical transceiver, to perform operations comprising:

• receiving an output from a digital signal processor of the optical transceiver;
• determining a difference between the received output and an initial target output;
• based on determining that the difference between the received output and the initial target output exceeds a threshold, tuning a temperature of a dispersion management device of the optical transceiver across a temperature range;
• receiving a plurality of outputs from the digital signal processor during the temperature tuning across the temperature range;
• selecting an adjusted target output from the plurality of received outputs based on the temperature tuning across the temperature range;
• and
• sending instructions to adjust the temperature of the dispersion management device to an adjusted target temperature corresponding to the adjusted target output.
