Abstract
A printing apparatus includes: a printing unit configured to perform printing on a medium; a conveyance unit configured to convey the medium; a winding unit configured to wind up the medium after printing; and a prompting unit configured to prompt a user to fix a leading end of the medium to a winding core material in response to the leading end of the medium reaching a prompting position located downstream of the printing position in the printing unit.
Claims12
A printing apparatus comprising:
- a printing unit configured to perform printing on a medium at a printing position;
- a conveyance unit configured to convey the medium;
- a winding unit configured to wind up the medium after printing;
- and
- a prompting unit configured to prompt a user to fix a leading end of the medium to the winding unit in response to the leading end of the medium reaching a prompting position located downstream of the printing position, wherein
- the prompting unit determines, based on a size of a printing area where the printing is to be performed, whether a job requires winding in the winding unit or a job does not require the winding in the winding unit.
A method for producing a printed matter by performing printing on a medium using a printing apparatus, the printing apparatus including a printing unit configured to perform printing on the medium at a printing position, a conveyance unit configured to convey the medium, and a winding unit configured to wind up the medium after printing, the method comprising:
- prompting a user to fix a leading end of the medium to the winding unit in response to the leading end of the medium reaching a prompting position located downstream of the printing position;
- and
- determining, based on a size of a printing area where the printing is to be performed, whether a job requires winding in the winding unit or a job does not require the winding in the winding unit.
