A method for using nanoparticles to produce desired results in a body of a human or non-human patient upon being illuminated with precisely targeted coherent energy, by:
- a) providing a system comprising:
- i. means for illuminating a first region and a second region with at least two pairs of overlapping mutually coherent beams of energy, each said pair of coherent beams overlapping each other so as to produce a resulting standing wave pattern, thereby producing at least two resulting standing wave patterns, with said at least two resulting standing wave patterns overlapping each other and every other resulting standing wave pattern such that each said resulting standing wave pattern intersects said first region and said second region;
- ii. means for adjusting at least one of the amplitude, phase, and frequency of each of said produced resulting standing wave patterns relative to every other said produced resulting standing wave pattern at a selected instant of time, so that each of said produced resulting standing wave patterns has amplitude, phase, and frequency, such that a superimposed produced resulting standing wave pattern undergoes Fourier synthesis to form an energy pattern having constructive interference in said first region and destructive interference in said second region wherein at least one of the amplitude, frequency, and phase of each said resulting standing wave pattern relative to every other said resulting standing wave pattern at a selected instant of time are related to each other such that an antinode of each said resulting standing wave pattern is in phase with and overlapping an antinode of every other resulting standing wave pattern throughout said first region at said selected instant of time during said illumination, so that the said patterns together overlap to produce destructive interference in said second region, and
- said method further comprising the steps of:
- b) illuminating said first region with said at least two pairs of overlapping mutually coherent beams of said energy, each said pair of coherent beams overlapping each other so as to produce a resulting standing wave pattern, thereby producing at least two resulting standing wave patterns, with said at least two resulting standing wave patterns overlapping each and every other resulting standing wave pattern, such that each said resulting standing wave pattern intersects said first region and said second region;
- c) adjusting said at least one of the amplitude, phase, and frequency of said produced resulting standing wave patterns relative to every other said produced resulting standing wave pattern at a selected instant of time, so that each of said produced resulting standing wave patterns has said amplitude, phase, and frequency, such that the superimposed produced resulting standing wave patterns undergo Fourier synthesis to form an energy pattern having constructive interference in said first region and destructive interference in said second region,
- d) wherein said at least one of the amplitude, frequency, and phase of each said resulting standing wave pattern relative to every other said resulting standing wave pattern at a selected instant of time are related to each other such that an antinode of each said resulting standing wave pattern is in phase with and overlapping an antinode of every other resulting standing wave pattern in said first region at said selected instant of time during said illumination, so that said patterns together overlap to produce destructive interference in said second region;
- and
- e) introducing nanoparticles into the object to be illuminated with said coherent energy by said system targeted at a first region within the object, and
- f) illuminating the object with said coherent energy targeted at a first region in or on the object, such that a second region in or on the object is in the area of destructive interference.
