Lead anchor for a neuromodulation lead

A lead anchor for a neuromodulation lead, the lead anchor comprising:

• an anchor body configured to receive a portion of the neuro-modulation lead;
• and
• a compressible mesh disposed to at least partially surround the portion of the neuromodulation lead when the portion of the neuromodulation lead is received in the anchor body, said compressible mesh being formed as a geometric mesh pattern formed by a repeating pattern of openings configured to receive outer portions of the neuromodulation lead in said openings and to create stress relief points along said outer portions of the neuromodulation lead, said geometric mesh pattern forming distributed contact points separated by said openings;
• and
• said compressible mesh being completely contained inside a lumen of said anchor body;
• and
• an actuator configured to induce a reversible deformation of said compressible mesh, said compressible mesh being configured to fully return to its original uncompressed state once a force induced by said actuator on said compressible mesh has been reversed.
