## Abstract

The present invention provides N-(3-(5-(4-chlorophenyl)-1H-pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridine-3-carbonyl)-2,4-difluorophenyl)propane-1-sulfonamide known as vemurafenib, and pharmaceutical salts thereof for use in the treatment of enteroviral diseases.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method for treating, alleviating, or reducing an enteroviral infection caused by an enterovirus comprising administering a pharmaceutical product comprising vemurafenib or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof to a subject suffering from said enteroviral infection, wherein the enterovirus is selected from the group consisting of coxsackieviruses B and polioviruses.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein said product comprises vemurafenib in its amorphous form.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein said product comprises hydroxypropyl methylcellulose acetate succinate (HPMC-AS).

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein said product comprises vemurafenib hydrochloride.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein said enteroviral infection causes poliomyelitis, polio-like syndrome, pericarditis, myocarditis, or type 1 diabetes.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein said product comprises at least one pharmaceutically acceptable buffer, carrier, excipient, preservative or adjuvant.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein the product is a tablet and the tablet comprises colloidal anhydrous silica, croscarmellose sodium, hydroxypropylcellulose, and magnesium stearate as excipients.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein said product is formulated for sustained-release, delayed-release, or timed-release, or said product comprises a blend of sustained-release and immediate-release formulations.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein said enteroviral infection is caused by a coxsackie B virus.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The method according to claim 9, wherein said enteroviral infection causes pericarditis, myocarditis or type 1 diabetes.

### Claim 11 (depends on 10)

The method according to claim 10, wherein said enteroviral infection is caused by coxsackie B virus 4 (CVB4).

### Claim 12 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein said enteroviral infection is caused by a poliovirus.

### Claim 13 (depends on 12)

The method according to claim 12, wherein said enteroviral infection causes poliomyelitis or a polio-like syndrome.

### Claim 14 (depends on 13)

The method according to claim 13, wherein said enteroviral infection is caused by poliovirus 3.
