Abstract
One embodiment provides a method of automatic loudspeaker directivity adaptation. The method comprises measuring one or more room impulse responses (RIRs) from one or more loudspeakers to one or more microphones of the one or more loudspeakers, estimating reverberation time and clarity based on the one or more RIRs, and estimating one or more positions of the one or more loudspeakers based on the one or more RIRs. The method further comprises automatically adapting directivity of the one or more loudspeakers based on the reverberation time estimated, the clarity estimated, and the one or more positions estimated.
Claims20
A method of automatic loudspeaker directivity adaptation, comprising:
- measuring one or more room impulse responses (RIRs) from one or more loudspeakers to one or more microphones of the one or more loudspeakers;
- estimating reverberation time and clarity based on the one or more RIRs;
- estimating one or more positions of the one or more loudspeakers based on the one or more RIRs;
- assigning at least one channel for the one or more loudspeakers;
- and
- automatically adapting directivity of the one or more loudspeakers based on the at least one assigned channel, the reverberation time estimated, the clarity estimated, and the one or more positions estimated, wherein automatically adapting the directivity comprises applying digital signal processing (DSP) to input audio corresponding to the at least one assigned channel using pre-defined filter coefficients selected based on a content type of the input audio and the one or more positions estimated, the directivity is adapted to a recommended directivity pattern to direct acoustic energy based on the content type, and the pre-defined filter coefficients are retrieved from a database storing a plurality of filter coefficient sets.
A system of automatic loudspeaker directivity adaptation, comprising:
- at least one processor;
- and
- a non-transitory processor-readable memory device storing instructions that when executed by the at least one processor causes the at least one processor to perform operations including:
- measuring one or more room impulse responses (RIRs) from one or more loudspeakers to one or more microphones of the one or more loudspeakers;
- estimating reverberation time and clarity based on the one or more RIRs;
- estimating one or more positions of the one or more loudspeakers based on the one or more RIRs;
- assigning at least one channel for the one or more loudspeakers;
- and
- automatically adapting directivity of the one or more loudspeakers based on the at least one assigned channel, the reverberation time estimated, the clarity estimated, and the one or more positions estimated, wherein automatically adapting the directivity comprises applying digital signal processing (DSP) to input audio corresponding to the at least one assigned channel using pre-defined filter coefficients selected based on a content type of the input audio and the one or more positions estimated, the directivity is adapted to a recommended directivity pattern to direct acoustic energy based on the content type, and the pre-defined filter coefficients are retrieved from a database storing a plurality of filter coefficient sets.
A non-transitory processor-readable medium that includes a program that when executed by a processor performs a method of automatic loudspeaker directivity adaptation, the method comprising:
- measuring one or more room impulse responses (RIRs) from one or more loudspeakers to one or more microphones of the one or more loudspeakers;
- estimating reverberation time and clarity based on the one or more RIRs;
- estimating one or more positions of the one or more loudspeakers based on the one or more RIRs;
- assigning at least one channel for the one or more loudspeakers;
- and
- automatically adapting directivity of the one or more loudspeakers based on the at least one assigned channel, the reverberation time estimated, the clarity estimated, and the one or more positions estimated, wherein automatically adapting the directivity comprises applying digital signal processing (DSP) to input audio corresponding to the at least one assigned channel using pre-defined filter coefficients selected based on a content type of the input audio and the one or more positions estimated, the directivity is adapted to a recommended directivity pattern to direct acoustic energy based on the content type, and the pre-defined filter coefficients are retrieved from a database storing a plurality of filter coefficient sets.
