Abstract
Encoding or decoding syntax information associated with video information can involve identifying a coding context associated with a syntax element of a current coding unit of the video information, wherein the identifying occurs without using a syntax element of a neighboring block, and encoding or decoding the syntax element of the current coding unit based on the coding context.
Claims19
A method for decoding syntax information associated with video information comprising:
- selecting a coding context associated with a syntax element of a coding unit of the video information, the syntax element of the coding unit comprising an adaptive motion vector resolution flag and wherein the coding context is selected among two coding contexts and the selecting is based on determining an affine mode of the coding unit and independently of an adaptive motion vector resolution flag of a neighboring block of the coding unit;
- decoding the syntax element of the coding unit based on the coding context;
- and
- decoding the coding unit based on the syntax element.
An apparatus for decoding syntax information associated with video information comprising:
- one or more processors configured to:
- select a coding context associated with a syntax element of a coding unit of the video information, the syntax element of the coding unit comprising an adaptive motion vector resolution flag and wherein the coding context is selected among two coding contexts based on a determination of an affine mode of the coding unit and independently of an adaptive motion vector resolution flag of a neighboring block of the coding unit;
- decode the syntax element of the coding unit based on the coding context;
- and
- decode the coding unit based on the syntax element.
