Network switching fabric efficiency

A method comprising:

• receiving messages from a plurality of hardware accelerators via a plurality of input channels;
• communicating header portions of the messages from a plurality of multiplexers to a first router via a plurality of header channels;
• communicating data portions of the messages from the plurality of multiplexers to a second router via a plurality of data channels;
• communicating the header portions of the messages from the first router to a plurality of demultiplexers via the plurality of header channels;
• communicating the data portions of the messages from the second router to the plurality of demultiplexers via the plurality of data channels;
• and
• transmitting the messages from the plurality of demultiplexers to the plurality of hardware accelerators via a plurality of output channels.

An apparatus comprising:

• a plurality of multiplexers configured to communicate with a plurality of hardware accelerators via a plurality of input channels;
• a plurality of demultiplexers configured to communicate with the plurality of hardware accelerators via a plurality of output channels;
• a first router coupled to the plurality of multiplexers and the plurality of demultiplexers via a set of header channels;
• and
• a second router coupled to the plurality of multiplexers and the plurality of demultiplexers via a set of data channels.
