Abstract
Techniques for leveraging a software defined tracking architecture for endpoint probing are described. An orchestrator of a network fabric receives probing rules associated with a particular endpoint type. The orchestrator receives a notification that an event occurred with respect to an and point connected to the fabric edge device, the notification indicates that the endpoint is of the particular endpoint type. Based at least in part on the endpoint being of the particular endpoint type, the orchestrator transmits instructions, based at least in part on the probing rules, regarding how to probe the endpoint, to the fabric edge device.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- receiving, at an orchestrator of a network fabric, probing rules associated with a particular endpoint type, wherein the probing rules include events that trigger a deregistration of the particular endpoint type;
- receiving, at the orchestrator and from a fabric edge device, a notification that an event occurred with respect to an endpoint connected to the fabric edge device, the notification indicating that the endpoint is of the particular endpoint type;
- and
- based at least in part on the endpoint being of the particular endpoint type, transmitting, from the orchestrator and to the fabric edge device, instructions, based at least in part on the probing rules, regarding how to probe the endpoint.
A system comprising:
- one or more processors;
- and
- one or more computer-readable media storing computer-executable instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:
- receiving, at an orchestrator of a network fabric, probing rules associated with a particular endpoint type, wherein the probing rules include events that trigger a deregistration of the particular endpoint type;
- receiving, at the orchestrator and from a fabric edge device, a notification that an event occurred with respect to an endpoint connected to the fabric edge device, the notification indicating that the endpoint is of the particular endpoint type;
- and
- based at least in part on the endpoint being of the particular endpoint type, transmitting, from the orchestrator and to the fabric edge device, instructions, based at least in part on the probing rules, regarding how to probe the endpoint.
One or more non-transitory computer-readable media storing instructions that, when executed, cause one or more processors to perform operations comprising:
- receiving, at an orchestrator of a network fabric, probing rules associated with a particular endpoint type, wherein the probing rules include events that trigger a deregistration of the particular endpoint type;
- receiving, at the orchestrator and from a fabric edge device, a notification that an event occurred with respect to an endpoint connected to the fabric edge device, the notification indicating that the endpoint is of the particular endpoint type;
- and
- based at least in part on the endpoint being of the particular endpoint type, transmitting, from the orchestrator and to the fabric edge device, instructions, based at least in part on the probing rules, regarding how to probe the endpoint.
