Abstract
A cathode active material for a lithium secondary battery includes a lithium-aluminum-titanium oxide formed on a surface of a lithium metal oxide particle having a specific formula. The cathode active material may have an improved structural stability even in a high temperature condition.
Claims9
A cathode active material for a lithium secondary battery, comprising:
- core portion comprising (i) a lithium metal oxide particle containing Ni, and (ii) a boron-including oxide, the lithium metal oxide particle comprising concave and convex portions formed on the on the surfaces thereof, the boron-including oxide at least partially filling the concave and convex portions;
- and
- coating layer comprising an aluminum-zirconium oxide and the boron-including oxide, wherein the coating layer is formed on at least a part of a surface of core portion,
- wherein the molar fraction of Ni based on total moles of metals excluding lithium in the lithium metal oxide particle is in a range from 0.7 to 0.95.
