Abstract
A system includes a memory device and a processing device, operatively coupled with the memory device, to perform operations including: receiving a request to modify one or more regions of the memory device; identifying one or more mapping structures associated with each region of the one or more regions of the memory device; determining that a counter satisfies a threshold criterion, wherein the counter indicates a number of memory access commands at the one or more regions; creating a copy of each mapping structure associated with each region; and modifying the copy of each mapping structure according to the request to modify the one or more regions of the memory device.
Claims20
A system comprising:
- a memory device;
- and
- a processing device, operatively coupled with the memory device, to perform operations comprising:
- receiving a request to modify one or more regions of the memory device;
- identifying one or more mapping structures associated with each region of the one or more regions of the memory device;
- determining that a counter satisfies a threshold criterion, wherein the counter indicates a number of memory access commands at the one or more regions;
- in response to determining that the counter satisfies the threshold criterion, creating a copy of each mapping structure associated with each region, wherein the copy of each mapping structure is stored locally on the memory device;
- and
- modifying the copy of each mapping structure according to the request to modify the one or more regions of the memory device.
A method comprising:
- receiving, by a firmware component of a processing device, a request to modify one or more regions of a memory device, wherein the processing device comprises the firmware component and a hardware component;
- identifying, by the firmware component, one or more mapping structures associated with each region of the one or more regions of the memory device;
- determining that a counter satisfies a threshold criterion, wherein the counter indicates a number of memory access commands at the one or more regions;
- in response to determining that the counter satisfies the threshold criterion, creating, by the firmware component, a copy of each mapping structure associated with each region, wherein the copy of each mapping structure is stored locally on the memory device;
- modifying, by the firmware component, the copy of each mapping structure according to the request to modify the one or more regions of the memory device;
- and
- notifying the hardware component of the modification of the copy of each mapping structure.
A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium comprising instructions that, when executed by a processing device, cause the processing device to perform operations comprising:
- receiving a request to modify one or more regions of a memory device;
- identifying one or more mapping structures associated with each region of the one or more regions of the memory device;
- determining that a counter satisfies a threshold criterion, wherein the counter indicates a number of memory access commands at the one or more regions;
- in response to determining that the counter satisfies the threshold criterion, creating a copy of each mapping structure associated with each region, wherein the copy of each mapping structure is stored locally on the memory device;
- and
- modifying the copy of each mapping structure according to the request to modify the one or more regions of the memory device.
