Abstract
The present invention relates to an electronic device and corresponding method, where the electronic device includes at least two sensors. The at least two sensors are in communication with a virtual sensor including a processing unit adapted to monitor the use of the device based on input from said sensors. The at least two sensors include activity sensors sensing user activities related to the device, and the processing unit is configured to receive and analyze the input from said sensors during use and to provide and store a model representing said typical use of the device. The device further being configured to compare new measurements received from said sensors with said model, providing a signal if the new measurements from said sensors deviates by a predetermined limit from the measurements predicted by the model.
Claims12
An electronic device comprising:
- a virtual sensor being in communication with at least two sensors;
- a processing unit adapted to monitor use of the electronic device based on input from the at least two sensors;
- wherein the at least two sensors comprise activity sensors sensing user activities related to the electronic device;
- wherein the processing unit is configured to receive and analyze the input from the at least two sensors during use and to provide and store a model predicting measurements representing typical use of the electronic device;
- wherein the processing unit is configured to compare new measurements received from the at least two sensors with the model, providing a signal if the new measurements from the at least two sensors deviates by a predetermined limit from measurements predicted by the model;
- wherein the model comprises a situation where at least one of the at least two sensors is malfunctioning, and the electronic device is configured to ignore signals from the at least one malfunctioning sensor, wherein the at least two sensors comprise an acoustic proximity sensor detecting if a user is close to the electronic device;
- and
- wherein the at least two sensors also comprises at least one of the following sensors:
- inertia (IMU) sensor, camera, and/or radar, UWB-, pressure, light, touch controller sensors.
A method for evaluating performance of an electronic device, the electronic device comprising at least two sensors providing measurements at a predetermined rate, the at least two sensors detecting user presence in relation to the electronic device, the at least two sensors comprising an acoustic proximity sensor and an inertia measuring sensor, the at least two sensors being connected to a virtual sensor comprising a processing unit adapted to monitor use of the electronic device based on input from the at least two sensors, the method comprising:
- receiving the measurements from the at least two sensors;
- comparing the measurements with a predetermined model representing a typical use of the electronic device;
- and
- providing a signal if new measurements from the at least two sensors deviates by a predetermined limit from the measurements predicted by the model;
- and
- if the measurements of one sensor deviates from the measurements predicted by the model in a corresponding situation, ignoring the signals from the deviating sensor.
