A pullback device for attaching to a rotary drill bit without disassembling or removing the rotary drill bit from a drill string to pull product back through a hole drilled by the rotary drill bit on the drill string, the pullback device comprising:
- an attachment location configured to attach the product to the pullback device, the attachment location being located along a central axis of the pullback device;
- a plurality of arms, each one of the plurality of arms having a first end, a second end, and an arm locking portion therebetween,
- a collar to which are pivotally coupled the respective first ends of the plurality of arms, wherein the collar is slidable along the central axis with respect to the attachment location between an unlocking position and locking position;
- an anchoring portion formed at least in part by the respective second ends of the plurality of arms, the anchoring portion configured to attach the pullback device to the rotary drill bit by engaging a plurality of engagement features on the rotary drill bit;
