## Abstract

An electrically conductive adhesive layer includes a plurality of particles dispersed between opposing first and second major surfaces of the electrically conductive adhesive layer. The first and second major surfaces are spaced apart a distance D. The particles are agglomerated so as to form a plurality of substantially continuous layers of particles generally extending along orthogonal first and second directions and arranged along a third direction. Each substantially continuous layer of particles has a length L along the first direction from a first to an opposing second edge of the electrically conductive adhesive layer and a width W along the second direction extending from the first to the second major surface. L/D≥100. At least some of the particles are electrically conductive.

## Claims

### Claim 1

An electrically conductive adhesive layer comprising a plurality of particles dispersed between opposing first and second major surfaces of the electrically conductive adhesive layer spaced apart a distance D, the particles agglomerated so as to form a plurality of substantially continuous layers of particles generally extending along orthogonal first and second directions and arranged along a third direction, each substantially continuous layer of particles having a length L along the first direction from a first to an opposing second edge of the electrically conductive adhesive layer and a width W along the second direction extending from the first to the second major surface, L/D≥100, the plurality of particles comprising a plurality of magnetic first particles and a plurality of electrically conductive second particles, the first and second particles having different compositions, the plurality of substantially continuous layers of particles comprising alternating first and second layers of the respective first and second particles,
wherein for at least one layer of the plurality of substantially continuous layers of particles, the layer has a thickness along a fourth direction orthogonal to the first and second directions that is smaller near the first major surface and larger near the second major surface, such that near the first major surface, but not near the second major surface, the particles of the layer are agglomerated within the layer so as to form alternating higher and lower density regions within the layer that are arranged along the fourth direction.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The electrically conductive adhesive layer of claim 1, wherein each substantially continuous layer of particles has an average thickness T along the fourth direction, D/T≥100.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The electrically conductive adhesive layer of claim 2, wherein the third and fourth directions are substantially parallel.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The electrically conductive adhesive layer of claim 1, wherein at least some of the substantially continuous layers of particles are substantially parallel to one another.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The electrically conductive adhesive layer of claim 1, wherein at least one of the substantially continuous layers of particles splits at a fork into first and second sublayers, each sublayer generally extending along the first and second directions.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The electrically conductive adhesive layer of claim 1, wherein W/D is in a range of about 1 to 1.5.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The electrically conductive adhesive layer of claim 1, wherein the second particles are agglomerated into the second layers due to an agglomeration of the first particles into the first layers without the first particles being attached to the second particles.
