## Abstract

Provided herein are compounds that can inhibit MHC-I downmodulation, and treat HIV infection in a patient in need of treatment thereof.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method of treating human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection in a patient in need thereof comprising administering to the patient a pharmaceutically-effective amount of a compound having a structure of Formula (I), or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof:
wherein
or represents a direct bond;
R1 is H, C(O)R6, or a sugar moiety;
R2 is H or OH;
R3 is H, C(O)R7 or a sugar moiety;
each R4 is independently H or C1-6alkyl;
R5 is C1-6alkyl or C2-6alkenyl; and
R6 and R7 are each independently C1-6 alkyl.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the HIV infection is HIV-1 infection.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The method of claim 2, wherein the HIV-1 infection is infection with HIV subtype A, B, C, D, F, G, H, J, K, L, or a recombination thereof.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein treating HIV infection comprises reducing or eliminating an HIV reservoir in a host.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the compound has a structure of Formula (Ia) or (Ib):
wherein R5′ is C1-5alkyl or C2-5alkenyl and R6′ is C1-5alkyl.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

The method of claim 5, wherein R5′ is C2-5alkenyl and R6′ is H.

### Claim 7 (depends on 5)

The method of claim 5, wherein R5′ and R6′ are methyl.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein R1 is H.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein R2 is H.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein R3 is a sugar.

### Claim 11 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein R3 is a carbamoyl sugar.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

The method of claim 11, wherein R3 is

### Claim 13 (depends on 12)

The method of claim 12, wherein at least one R4 is C1-6alkyl.

### Claim 14 (depends on 13)

The method of claim 13, wherein at least one R4 is methyl.

### Claim 15 (depends on 14)

The method of claim 14, wherein each R4 is methyl.

### Claim 16 (depends on 12)

The method of claim 12, wherein each R4 is C1-6alkyl.

### Claim 17

A method of treating human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection comprising administering to a patient in need thereof a pharmaceutically-effective amount of a compound, or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, having a structure as shown in Table A:
TABLE A
Compound
No.
Structure
A1
A2

### Claim 18 (depends on 17)

The method of claim 17, wherein the compound of Table A is in the form of a salt.
