Abstract
A stent delivery system can include a core assembly sized for insertion into a corporeal lumen and configured for advancing a stent toward a treatment location in the corporeal lumen. The core assembly can include a proximal restraint having a bumper section, a distal section distal to the bumper section, a lumen extending through the bumper and distal sections, and an undercut section including a recess at least partially surrounding the lumen. The recess can abut and/or be formed in the bumper and/or distal sections.

A method of operating a medical device delivery system, comprising:
- inserting a core assembly into a lumen of a catheter, the core assembly comprising—
- an elongate member;
- a monolithic restraint disposed over the elongate member, the restraint including a bumper section, a distal section distal to the bumper section, a lumen extending through the bumper section and the distal section, the lumen receiving the elongate member therethrough, and a recess extending at least partially around the lumen, wherein at least one of the bumper section or the distal section includes the recess, and wherein the distal section extend distally beyond the recess;
- and
- a stent having a proximal end portion and a distal end portion opposite the proximal end portion along a longitudinal dimension of the stent, the stent extending longitudinally over at least a portion of the elongate member such that (i) the recess of the restraint receives the proximal end portion of the stent and prevents or limits proximal translation of the proximal end portion of the stent, (ii) the distal end portion of the stent is positioned distal to the restraint, and (iii) the stent is disposed radially outwardly of distal section of the restraint;
- and
- advancing the core assembly through the lumen of the catheter until the distal end portion of the stent extends beyond a distal end of the catheter, thereby allowing at least the distal end portion of the stent to radially expand while the proximal end portion of the stent remains engaged with the restraint.
A method of advancing an interventional element within a lumen of a catheter, the method comprising:
- moving an elongate member distally through the lumen of the catheter, wherein—
- the elongate member carries a restraint comprising a bumper section including an engagement portion that is concave towards a distal end of the elongate member, a distal section extending distally away from the bumper section and distal to the engagement portion, and a lumen defined by and extending through the bumper section and the distal section, and
- the elongate member underlies the interventional element such that at least a portion of the interventional element is positioned distal of the bumper section of the restraint and at least a portion of interventional element is disposed radially outwardly over the distal section of the restraint,
- by moving the elongate member distally, causing the engagement portion of the bumper section of the restraint to engage a proximal end portion of the interventional element and apply a distally directed force to the proximal end portion while preventing or limiting outward radial deflection of the proximal end portion of the interventional element, and
- moving the elongate member distally until a distal end portion of the interventional element extends beyond a distal end of the catheter, thereby allowing at least the distal end portion of the interventional element to radially expand while the proximal end portion of the interventional element remains engaged with the restraint.
