Abstract
In an aspect, a UE may determine an initial transmission power for transmission of a physical random access channel (PRACH) preamble of a PRACH procedure based upon a final PRACH preamble transmission power associated with a set of historical completed PRACH procedures. The UE may further attempt an initial transmission of the PRACH preamble based on the determined initial transmission power.
Claims18
A method of operating a user equipment (UE), comprising:
- determining an initial transmission power for transmission of a physical random access channel (PRACH) preamble of a PRACH procedure based upon a final PRACH preamble transmission power associated with a set of historical completed PRACH procedures;
- attempting an initial transmission of the PRACH preamble based on the determined initial transmission power,
- wherein the determined initial transmission power is higher than a default initial transmission power for transmission of PRACH preambles;
- and
- determining, in response to a triggering event, to reset the initial transmission power for transmissions of PRACH preambles of subsequent PRACH procedures back to the default transmission power,
- wherein the triggering event comprises:
- a threshold number of PRACH procedures subsequent to a latest of the set of historical completed PRACH procedures being performed,
- a threshold period of time subsequent to the latest of the set of historical completed PRACH procedures elapsing,
- an inter-cell handoff of the UE, or
- a combination thereof.
A user equipment (UE), comprising:
- means for determining an initial transmission power for transmission of a physical random access channel (PRACH) preamble of a PRACH procedure based upon a final PRACH preamble transmission power associated with a set of historical completed PRACH procedures;
- means for attempting an initial transmission of the PRACH preamble based on the determined initial transmission power,
- wherein the determined initial transmission power is higher than a default initial transmission power for transmission of PRACH preambles;
- and
- means for determining, in response to a triggering event, to reset the initial transmission power for transmissions of PRACH preambles of subsequent PRACH procedures back to the default transmission power,
- wherein the triggering event comprises:
- a threshold number of PRACH procedures subsequent to a latest of the set of historical completed PRACH procedures being performed,
- a threshold period of time subsequent to the latest of the set of historical completed PRACH procedures elapsing,
- an inter-cell handoff of the UE, or
- a combination thereof.
A user equipment (UE), comprising:
- a memory;
- at least one transceiver;
- and
- at least one processor communicatively coupled to the memory and the at least one transceiver, the at least one processor configured to:
- determine an initial transmission power for transmission of a physical random access channel (PRACH) preamble of a PRACH procedure based upon a final PRACH preamble transmission power associated with a set of historical completed PRACH procedures;
- attempt an initial transmission of the PRACH preamble based on the determined initial transmission power,
- wherein the determined initial transmission power is higher than a default initial transmission power for transmission of PRACH preambles;
- and
- determine, in response to a triggering event, to reset the initial transmission power for transmissions of PRACH preambles of subsequent PRACH procedures back to the default transmission power,
- wherein the triggering event comprises:
- a threshold number of PRACH procedures subsequent to a latest of the set of historical completed PRACH procedures being performed,
- a threshold period of time subsequent to the latest of the set of historical completed PRACH procedures elapsing,
- an inter-cell handoff of the UE, or
- a combination thereof.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium containing instructions stored thereon, for causing at least one processor in a user equipment (UE) to:
- determine an initial transmission power for transmission of a physical random access channel (PRACH) preamble of a PRACH procedure based upon a final PRACH preamble transmission power associated with a set of historical completed PRACH procedures;
- and
- attempt an initial transmission of the PRACH preamble based on the determined initial transmission power,
- wherein the determined initial transmission power is higher than a default initial transmission power for transmission of PRACH preambles;
- and
- determine, in response to a triggering event, to reset the initial transmission power for transmissions of PRACH preambles of subsequent PRACH procedures back to the default transmission power,
- wherein the triggering event comprises:
- a threshold number of PRACH procedures subsequent to a latest of the set of historical completed PRACH procedures being performed,
- a threshold period of time subsequent to the latest of the set of historical completed PRACH procedures elapsing,
- an inter-cell handoff of the UE, or
- a combination thereof.
