Virtual planogram automation and modification

A computer-implemented method, comprising:

• receiving, by a planogram planner comprising a server, image data of one or more products prior to the display of the one or more products in a product display area at a retail entity, wherein the image data is received from one or more cameras associated with one or more imaging devices;
• detecting, by the planogram planner, one or more changes in a product based on the received image data, wherein the one or more detected changes comprise one or more changes in one or more product dimensions;
• performing, by the planogram planner, simulated annealing to generate one or more new planogram options by:
• generating a planogram option in response to received image data and one or more received KPI's;
• incrementing the planogram option according to neighboring states of the planogram parameters;
• calculating an objective function measuring optimality of the incremented planogram option;
• repeating the generating, incrementing and calculating steps until a stopping criterion is met according to the objective function;
• and
• determining, by the planogram planner, a final planogram based on the stopping criterion being met;
• and
• adjusting, by automated robotic shelving machinery, the one or more products based on the final planogram.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium embodied with software, the software when executed configured to:

• receive, by a planogram planner comprising a server, image data of one or more products prior to the display of the one or more products in a product display area at a retail entity, wherein the image data is received from one or more cameras associated with one or more imaging devices;
• detect one or more changes in a product based on the received image data, wherein the one or more detected changes comprise one or more changes in one or more product dimensions;
• perform simulated annealing to generate one or more new planogram options by:
• generate a planogram option in response to received image data and one or more received KPI's;
• increment the planogram option according to neighboring states of the planogram parameters;
• calculate an objective function measuring optimality of the incremented planogram option;
• repeat the generate, increment and calculate steps until a stopping criterion is met according to the objective function;
• and
• determine a final planogram based on the stopping criterion being met;
• and
• adjust, by automated robotic shelving machinery, the one or more products based on the final planogram.
