Abstract
In one implementation, a device provides, to a user interface, proof-of-creation information that certifies that data presented by the user interface was created by one or more sensors capturing the data from a real person. The device receives, via the user interface, an edit to the data, to form edited data. The device associates one or more keys with the edited data that are based on the proof-of-creation information and on the edit to the data. The device provides, based on the one or more keys, lineage information to the user interface in conjunction with the edited data that indicates the edit to the data and the proof-of-creation information.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- providing, by a device and to a user interface, proof-of-creation information that certifies that data presented by the user interface was created by one or more sensors capturing the data from a real person;
- receiving, at the device and via the user interface, an edit to the data, to form edited data;
- associating, by the device, one or more keys with the edited data that are cryptographically derived from the proof-of-creation information and information identifying the edit to the data, the one or more keys being operative, during verification, to authenticate a cryptographic attestation over the edited data, the proof-of-creation information, and the information identifying the edit;
- and
- providing, by the device and based on the one or more keys, lineage information to the user interface in conjunction with the edited data that indicates the edit to the data and the proof-of-creation information.
An apparatus, comprising:
- one or more network interfaces;
- a processor coupled to the one or more network interfaces and configured to execute one or more processes;
- and
- a memory configured to store a process that is executable by the processor, the process when executed configured to:
- provide, to a user interface, proof-of-creation information that certifies that data presented by the user interface was created by one or more sensors capturing the data from a real person;
- receive, via the user interface, an edit to the data, to form edited data;
- associate one or more keys with the edited data that are cryptographically derived from the proof-of-creation information and information identifying the edit to the data, the one or more keys being operative, during verification, to authenticate a cryptographic attestation over the edited data, the proof-of-creation information, and the information identifying the edit;
- and
- provide, based on the one or more keys, lineage information to the user interface in conjunction with the edited data that indicates the edit to the data and the proof-of-creation information.
A tangible, non-transitory, computer-readable medium storing program instructions that cause a device to execute a process comprising:
- providing, by the device and to a user interface, proof-of-creation information that certifies that data presented by the user interface was created by one or more sensors capturing the data from a real person;
- receiving, at the device and via the user interface, an edit to the data, to form edited data;
- associating, by the device, one or more keys with the edited data that are cryptographically derived from the proof-of-creation information and on information identifying the edit to the data, the one or more keys being operative, during verification, to authenticate a cryptographic attestation over the edited data, the proof-of-creation information, and the information identifying the edit;
- and
- providing, by the device and based on the one or more keys, lineage information to the user interface in conjunction with the edited data that indicates the edit to the data and the proof-of-creation information.
