Synchronizing configuration of partner objects across distributed storage systems using transformations

A computing device comprising:

• a memory comprising machine executable code;
• and
• a processor coupled to the memory, the processor configured to execute the machine executable code to cause the processor to:
• perform a baseline configuration replication during a first phase of a two phase replication by:
• traversing configuration objects of a primary virtual machine at a primary node to capture and encapsulate attributes of the configuration objects into a baseline package;
• and
• replicating the baseline package from the primary node to a partner node as a baseline configuration;
• and
• in response to determining that the baseline configuration replication successfully applied the baseline configuration to the partner node by creating the configuration objects at the partner node, trigger performance of a second phase of the two phase replication by:
• creating a replication stream to comprise a series of updates performed upon a component configuration by the primary node according to an order;
• transmitting the replication stream from the primary node to the partner node, , wherein the replication stream applies the series of updates to the corresponding component configuration according to the order;
• and
• in response to determining that a temporary configuration object was created for a temporary resource created for and deleted after execution of an operation, excluding the temporary configuration object from being replicated from the primary node to the partner node.

A non-transitory machine readable medium comprising instructions for performing a method, which when executed by a machine, causes the machine to:

• perform a baseline configuration replication during a first phase of a two phase replication by:
• traversing configuration objects of a primary virtual machine at a primary node to capture and encapsulate attributes of the configuration objects into a baseline package;
• and
• replicating the baseline package from the primary node to a partner node as a baseline configuration;
• and
• in response to determining that the baseline configuration replication successfully applied the baseline configuration to the partner node by creating the configuration objects at the partner node, trigger performance of a second phase of the two phase replication by:
• creating a replication stream to comprise a series of updates performed upon a component configuration by the primary node according to an order;
• transmitting the replication stream from the primary node to the partner node to apply to a corresponding component configuration on the partner node, wherein the replication stream applies the series of updates to the corresponding component configuration according to the order;
• and
• in response to determining that a default configuration object was created by the primary node as part of creating the primary virtual machine, excluding the default configuration object from being replicated to the partner node.
