Abstract
Methods, systems, and devices for providing computer implemented services using managed systems are disclosed. To provide the computer implemented services, hardware components may be bundled into hardware bundles. The hardware bundles may be used to satisfy subscriptions for the services, and limit use of the hardware bundles when subscription limits are reached. The hardware bundles may include direct management hardware components and indirect management hardware components. Limits on use of the hardware bundles may be enforced by a variety of control mechanisms.
Claims20
A method for managing computer implemented services provided by a managed system, the method comprising:
- identifying, by a local subscription manager, that a subscription limit for a subscription has been reached;
- identifying, by the local subscription manager, a hardware bundle based on the subscription;
- identifying, by the local subscription manager, a control mechanism based on the subscription and the hardware bundle;
- obtaining, by the local subscription manager and based on the control mechanism, a payload;
- sending, by the local subscription manager, the payload to the control mechanism via a sideband communication channel between the local subscription manager and the control mechanism to obtain an updated hardware bundle that complies with a limitation imposed by the subscription when the subscription limit is reached;
- and
- providing, by the local subscription manager, computer implemented services using the updated hardware bundle.
A non-transitory machine-readable medium having instructions stored therein, which when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform operations for managing computer implemented services provided by a managed system, the operations comprising:
- identifying, by a local subscription manager, that a subscription limit for a subscription has been reached;
- identifying, by the local subscription manager, a hardware bundle based on the subscription;
- identifying, by the local subscription manager, a control mechanism based on the subscription and the hardware bundle;
- obtaining, by the local subscription manager and based on the control mechanism, a payload;
- sending, by the local subscription manager, the payload to the control mechanism via a sideband communication channel between the local subscription manager and the control mechanism to obtain an updated hardware bundle that complies with a limitation imposed by the subscription when the subscription limit is reached;
- and
- providing, by the local subscription manager, computer implemented services using the updated hardware bundle.
A managed system, comprising:
- directly manageable hardware resources;
- indirectly manageable hardware resources;
- a processor;
- and
- a local subscription manager adapted to perform operations for managing computer implemented services provided by the managed system, the operations comprising:
- identifying that a subscription limit for a subscription has been reached;
- identifying a hardware bundle based on the subscription;
- identifying a control mechanism based on the subscription and the hardware bundle;
- obtaining, based on the control mechanism, a payload;
- sending the payload to the control mechanism via a sideband communication channel between the local subscription manager and the control mechanism to obtain an updated hardware bundle that complies with a limitation imposed by the subscription when the subscription limit is reached;
- and
- providing computer implemented services using the updated hardware bundle.
