Abstract
A water-based ink contains at least a coloring material, water, and an organic solvent, the coloring material containing a pigment, and the organic solvent having a water-octanol partition coefficient of −0.3 or less. The water-based ink makes it possible to suppress white spots, suppress the occurrence of water-based ink filling defects, and produce recorded matter having high image reproducibility.
Claims19
An ink set comprising:
- a pretreatment ink containing a reaction solution and a resin different from the reaction solution, wherein at least part of the resin is contained as a resin emulsion;
- and
- a water-based ink comprising at least:
- a colorant, water, and an organic solvent,
- the colorant comprising a pigment,
- the organic solvent comprising an organic solvent having a water-octanol partition coefficient of −0.3 or less and
- the water-based ink is applied on the pretreatment ink, wherein the water-based ink and the pretreatment ink have static surface tensions satisfying the following relation;
- the static surface tension SP of the pretreatment ink<the static surface tension SC of the water-based ink.
