A protein variant having acetohydroxy acid synthase (AHAS) activity comprising an amino acid sequence having at least 90% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO:
- 1, wherein glutamine, which is an amino acid at a position corresponding to position 136 in the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 1, is substituted with an amino acid other than glutamine.
