Medium conveyance device

A medium conveying apparatus comprising:

• a housing including an engaged part and a guide surface of a medium;
• a loading tray, including an engaging part which can be engaged with the engaged part and a placement surface on which the medium is placed, attachable and detachable relative to the housing, wherein the engaging part is engaged with the engaged part when the guide surface and the placement surface form a first angle, and entering or removing of the loading tray to the housing is allowed when the guide surface and the placement surface form a second angle different from the first angle;
• a roller attachable and detachable relative to the housing;
• and
• a cover openable and closable relative to the housing, wherein the cover forms part of the guide surface when the cover closes and the roller can be attached and detached when the cover opens, wherein
• a contact part to come into contact with the cover is provided on the loading tray or on a side guide provided on the loading tray to regulate a width direction of a medium, and wherein
• the contact part pushes the cover in a direction in which the cover closes when an angle formed by the guide surface and the placement surface is changed from the second angle to the first angle.
