Patient positioning

A patient proning device including:

• a conformable structure shaped and sized to enclose a front and back of a human body while exposing at least a head of the human body along an axis of the conformable structure aligned to the human body when the human body is placed within the conformable structure, the conformable structure including one or more inflatable chambers, and one or more non-stretchable panels enclosing the one or more inflatable chambers;
• one or more hinges along an edge of the conformable structure that hingeably couple portions of the conformable structure to one another to facilitate opening the conformable structure to receive the human body and closing the conformable structure to enclose the human body;
• one or more fasteners along an opposing edge of the conformable structure to the one or more hinges to form a clamshell arrangement with the one or more hinges for opening and closing the patient proning device around the human body;
• and
• a pressurized fluid source coupled to the one or more inflatable chambers and operable to controllably inflate the one or more inflatable chambers causing the conformable structure to form a substantially cylindrical shape parallel to the axis of the conformable structure aligned to the human body;
• a low-friction interface on an exterior surface of the conformable structure, the low-friction interface having a low coefficient of friction with a bedding surface, the low-friction interface configured to facilitate a rotation of the conformable structure about the axis on the bedding surface when the conformable structure is positioned on the bedding surface and the conformable structure is enclosed and fastened about the human body.
