Orthodontic appliance with snap fitted, non-sliding archwire

An orthodontic appliance comprising:

• multiple orthodontic brackets configured to be disposed on each and every tooth of a dental arch segment of a patient, the dental arch segment corresponding to all teeth of a dental arch of the patient, each of the multiple orthodontic brackets comprising a spring and a slot;
• and
• a monolithic archwire configured to follow the entire dental arch of the patient, the archwire comprising:
• multiple bracket connectors corresponding to each and every tooth of the dental arch segment;
• and
• multiple interproximal loops, each interproximal loop of the multiple interproximal loops disposed between adjacent bracket connectors of the multiple bracket connectors corresponding to each and every tooth of the dental arch segment, the multiple interproximal loops corresponding to each and every interdental space between adjacent teeth of the dental arch segment, wherein each interproximal loop comprises a first portion extending gingivally and not occlusally from one of the adjacent bracket connectors to a gingival-most point of the interproximal loop and a second portion extending occlusally and not gingivally from the gingival-most point to the other of the adjacent bracket connectors such that each interproximal loop is open in an occlusal direction, wherein the first portion continuously curves from the one of the adjacent bracket connectors to a first inflection point to the gingival-most point and the second portion continuously curves from the gingival-most point to a second inflection point to the other of the adjacent bracket connectors;
• wherein the archwire comprises a custom position that is based on an expected alignment of the dental arch segment of the patient from a virtual set-up of the dental arch segment;
• wherein each bracket connector of the multiple bracket connectors is configured to be received in the slot and deflect the spring of one orthodontic bracket of the multiple orthodontic brackets to be secured to the one orthodontic bracket such that each bracket connector couples forces with the one orthodontic bracket in three dimensions and is unable to slide with respect to the one orthodontic bracket;
• and
• wherein the archwire, including the multiple interproximal loops, is configured to be deflected from the custom position to secure the multiple bracket connectors to the multiple orthodontic brackets to move the dental arch segment toward the expected alignment of the dental arch segment by forces imparted by the deflected multiple interproximal loops as the archwire moves back toward the custom position.
