Abstract
Sterile barriers and sensor configurations for a medical device are described. The sterile barriers isolate internal components such as a battery pack or a sensor pack from the environment and the patient.

A controller for a surgical tool comprising a user interface having a housing with finger pad levers mounted thereupon said housing including a recess having an openable cover for storing a removable sensor pack including a capsule sealingly encapsulating a plurality of sensors, said plurality of sensors being isolated from internal components of said housing and an external environment by said capsule, said sensor pack being for determining a spatial orientation of said housing of said user interface, a rotational orientation of said finger pad levers and an angle between said fingers pad levers and for wirelessly transmitting data obtained by said sensors to at least one motor to control operation of the surgical tool.
