Abstract
Per-segment parameters for content delivery are described herein. A manifest file for a segment and a parameter file for the segment may be sent to a user device. The parameter file may indicate one or more time ranges each corresponding to a parameter value. Requests for content segments based on the manifest file and the parameter file may be received. The user device may access the parameter file to determine a time range of the one or more time ranges into which a start time of a particular segment falls. The user device may determine a parameter value as corresponding to the determined time range. The user device may then generate a request to include the determined parameter value.
Claims23
A method comprising:
- determining, based on a request for content, a manifest file and a parameter file, wherein the request and an identifying sequence are associated with a computing device, wherein the content comprises a plurality of segments, wherein the manifest file comprises a placeholder parameter for each segment of the plurality of segments, and wherein the parameter file comprises a value and a time range, based on the identifying sequence, for each placeholder parameter in the manifest file;
- and
- sending, based on the request, the manifest file and the parameter file to the computing device, wherein the computing device requests at least one segment, of the plurality of segments, based on the value and the time range in the parameter file for the placeholder parameter corresponding to the at least one segment.
A method comprising:
- based on a request for content, receiving, by a computing device, a manifest file and a parameter file, wherein the request and an identifying sequence are associated with the computing device, and wherein the content comprises a plurality of segments,
- generating, based on the manifest file and the parameter file, a further request for at least one segment of the plurality of segments, wherein the manifest file comprises a placeholder parameter for each segment of the plurality of segments, and wherein the parameter file comprises a value and a time range, based on the identifying sequence, for each placeholder parameter in the manifest file;
- and
- sending the further request for at least one segment, wherein the further request comprises the value and the time range in the parameter file for the placeholder parameter corresponding to the at least one segment.
One or more non-transitory computer-readable media storing processor-executable instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to:
- determine, based on a request for content, a manifest file and a parameter file, wherein the request and an identifying sequence are associated with a computing device, wherein the content comprises a plurality of segments, wherein the manifest file comprises a placeholder parameter for each segment of the plurality of segments, and wherein the parameter file comprises a value and a time range, based on the identifying sequence, for each placeholder parameter in the manifest file;
- and
- send, based on the request, the manifest file and the parameter file to the computing device, wherein the computing device requests at least one segment, of the plurality of segments, based on the value and the time range in the parameter file for the placeholder parameter corresponding to the at least one segment.
A system comprising:
- a first computing device configured to:
- determine, based on a request for content, a manifest file and a parameter file, wherein the request and an identifying sequence are associated with a second computing device, wherein the content comprises a plurality of segments, wherein the manifest file comprises a placeholder parameter for each segment of the plurality of segments, and wherein the parameter file comprises a value and a time range, based on the identifying sequence, for each placeholder parameter in the manifest file;
- and
- send, based on the request, the manifest file and the parameter file to the second computing device;
- and
- the second computing device configured to:
- receive the manifest file and the parameter file;
- and
- send a further request for at least one segment of the plurality of segments, wherein the further request is based on the value and the time range in the parameter file for the placeholder parameter corresponding to the at least one segment.
