Abstract
A method of processing media data. The method includes determining, for a conversion between the media data and a media data file, that a preselection element includes an indicator, wherein the indicator indicates that a purpose of the preselection element is for providing a picture-in-picture experience where a supplementary video appears to be overlaid on a target picture-in-picture region in a main video; and performing a conversion between the media data and the media data file based on the indicator. A corresponding video coding apparatus and non-transitory computer-readable recording medium are also disclosed.
Claims17
A method of processing media data, wherein the media data is a video, the method comprises:
- determining, for a conversion between the media data and a media data file for Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over Hypertext Transfer Protocol (DASH), that a preselection element includes an indicator, wherein the indicator indicates that a purpose of the preselection element is for providing a picture-in-picture experience where a supplementary video is visually overlaid on a target picture-in-picture region in a main video;
- and
- performing the conversion between the media data and the media data file based on the indicator,
- wherein the conversion includes generating the media data file from the media data or parsing the media data file into the media data,
- wherein another indicator is included in the preselection element to indicate whether coded video data units representing the target picture-in-picture region in the main video are allowed to be replaced by corresponding video data units of the supplementary video, and
- wherein the another indicator includes an @dataUnitsReplacable attribute, and the @dataUnitsReplacable attribute specifies whether the coded video data units representing the target picture-in-picture region in the main video are replaced by the corresponding video data units of the supplementary video.
An apparatus for processing media data comprising a processor and a non-transitory memory with instructions thereon, wherein the media data is a video, wherein the instructions upon execution by the processor, cause the processor to:
- determine, for a conversion between the media data and a media data file for Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over Hypertext Transfer Protocol (DASH), that a preselection element includes an indicator, wherein the indicator indicates that a purpose of the preselection element is for providing a picture-in-picture experience where a supplementary video is visually overlaid on a target picture-in-picture region in a main video;
- and
- perform the conversion between the media data and the media data file based on the indicator, wherein the conversion includes generating the media data file from the media data or parsing the media data file into the media data,
- wherein another indicator is included in the preselection element to indicate whether coded video data units representing the target picture-in-picture region in the main video are allowed to be replaced by corresponding video data units of the supplementary video, and
- wherein the another indicator includes an @dataUnitsReplacable attribute, and the @dataUnitsReplacable attribute specifies whether the coded video data units representing the target picture-in-picture region in the main video are replaced by the corresponding video data units of the supplementary video.
A method for storing a Media Presentation Description (MPD) of a video, comprising:
- determining that a preselection element includes an indicator, wherein the indicator indicates that a purpose of the preselection element is for providing a picture-in-picture experience where a supplementary video is visually overlaid on a target picture-in-picture region in a main video;
- generating the MPD based on the indicator;
- and
- storing the MPD in a non-transitory computer-readable recording medium, wherein another indicator is included in the preselection element to indicate whether coded video data units representing the target picture-in-picture region in the main video are allowed to be replaced by corresponding video data units of the supplementary video, and
- wherein the another indicator includes an @dataUnitsReplacable attribute, and the @dataUnitsReplacable attribute specifies whether the coded video data units representing the target picture-in-picture region in the main video are replaced by the corresponding video data units of the supplementary video.
