Abstract
Disclosed herein is service continuity assistance (SCA) functionality that may assist in the relocation of edge application server instance between different edge nodes in the system. The procedures may include: 1) edge application relocation target prediction and selection; 2) defining and generating relocation trigger; 3) proactive relocation; or 4) multi-application and multi-UE joint relocation.

An apparatus comprising one or more processors and memory storing instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the apparatus to:
- determine trigger criteria for a service continuity event of an edge application to relocate from a first edge application server to a second edge application server, wherein the trigger criteria comprise one or more threshold measurements of one or more performance indicators associated with the edge application on one or more candidate edge nodes for relocation, and wherein the second edge application server is one of the one or more candidate edge nodes for relocation;
- select the second edge application server to perform the service continuity event of the edge application;
- receive one or more messages indicating information related to the service continuity event of the edge application;
- and
- based on the trigger criteria and the information related to the service continuity event, send instructions to the second edge application server to perform relocation associated with the service continuity event of the edge application.
