Device abstraction proxy

A non-transitory computer readable storage media having computer program code stored thereon, the computer program code, when executed by one or more processors implementing a management system, causes the management system to perform an operation comprising:

• providing one or more broadband communication services to a plurality of remote wireless terminals via at least one of a plurality of physical ports that are located on one or more physical access aggregation devices;
• communicatively interfacing a management entity to the one or more physical access aggregation devices;
• instantiating a plurality of virtual access aggregation devices related to the one or more physical access aggregation devices;
• performing functions by each of the plurality of virtual access aggregation devices that support the one or more logical aggregation networks having certain network characteristics required to comply with service definition rules, each of the one or more logical aggregation networks being part of a network slice that traverses a wide area network;
• receiving by the management entity operational data relating to the one or more physical access aggregation device(s);
• and
• issuing by the management entity an instruction causing performance of at least one of the functions performed by one or more of the plurality of virtual access aggregation devices.
