Abstract
An accident detector includes a processor, one or more sensors operatively coupled to the processor where the one or more sensors acquire at the ear, on the ear or within an ear canal, one or more of acceleration, blood oxygen saturation, blood pressure or heart-rate, and the one or more sensors configured to monitor a biological state or a physical motion or both for an event. The accident detection can be a detection of a discrepancy when compared with a set of reference data by the one or more sensors.
Claims30
A mobile device, comprising:
- a microphone that measures the ambient environment and generates a microphone signal;
- a first sensor that monitors the health of a user and generates biometric data, wherein the first sensor is part of the mobile device;
- a second sensor that monitors the spatial location, velocity and acceleration of the mobile device and generates motion data, wherein the motion data includes location, velocity and acceleration data as a function of time, wherein the second sensor is part of the mobile device;
- a memory that stores instructions, wherein the memory is part of the mobile device;
- and
- a circuit connected to the memory, wherein the circuit is part of the mobile device, wherein the circuit is connected to the microphone, wherein the circuit is connected to the first sensor, wherein the circuit is connected to the second sensor, wherein the circuit performs operations by executing the instructions, the operations comprising:
- receiving the microphone signal;
- receiving the biometric data;
- receiving the motion data;
- analyzing the microphone signal, the biometric data, and the motion data to detect an accident, wherein the detection is determined by:
- comparing the biometric data to a first set of reference biometric data,
- comparing the motion data to a second set of reference motion data, and
- comparing the microphone signal to a third set of reference sound data,
- wherein the third set of reference sound data includes an accident detection threshold, wherein the accident is detected when three conditions occur, first when a sound level of the microphone signal exceeds a sound level of the reference sound data, and second when the biometric data is outside a first range of the reference biometric data and third when the motion data is outside a second range of the reference motion data;
- saving the biometric data when the accident is detected;
- saving the motion data when the accident is detected;
- saving the microphone signal as microphone data when the accident is detected;
- sending a message to an emergency service when the accident is detected;
- sending a first portion of the biometric data and a second portion of the motion data to a remote server when the accident is detected;
- and
- sending a third portion of the microphone data to the remote server when the accident is detected.

A method comprising:
- receiving a microphone signal, wherein the microphone signal is generated by a microphone and wherein the microphone is part of a mobile device;
- receiving biometric data, wherein the biometric data is generated by a biometric sensor and wherein the biometric sensor is part of the mobile device;
- receiving motion data, wherein the motion data includes location, velocity and acceleration data of the mobile device as a function of time;
- detecting that an accident has occurred by comparing the motion data with reference motion data and a first threshold;
- verifying that the accident has been detected by comparing the biometric data with reference biometric data and a second threshold;
- verifying that the accident has been detected by comparing a sound level of the microphone signal with reference sound level of the sound data, wherein the accident is verified when the sound level of the microphone signal exceeds the reference sound level;
- saving the biometric data when the accident is detected;
- saving the motion data when the accident is detected;
- saving the microphone signal as microphone data when the accident is detected;
- sending a message to an emergency service when the accident has been verified;
- sending a first portion of the biometric data and a second portion of the motion data to a remote server when the accident has been verified;
- and
- sending a third portion of the microphone data to the remote server when the accident has been verified.
