Remote file service system for file operations

A system for enabling a usage of a cloud object storage for storing data accessed based on execution of one or more file operations that are unsupported by the cloud object storage, the system comprising:

• one or more processors;
• and
• a memory storing instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operations including:
• executing, by a data processing system, an application, wherein the application is configured to access application files;
• wherein the application indicates, to a file service system, a location of cloud object storage for storing the application files;
• wherein the file service system is configured to:
• record an indication of one or more operations to modify the application files, wherein the one or more modification operations are unsupported by the cloud object storage, and
• store the indication in the location of the cloud object storage to enable recovery of the modified application files;
• as the application executes, generating one or more instructions to perform the one or more operations to modify the application files, wherein the one or more operations are unsupported by the cloud object storage;
• transmitting the one or more instructions to the file service system, the file service system representing the location of the cloud object storage;
• recording, at the file service system, an indication of the one or more operations specified by the one or more instructions;
• and
• transmitting, from the file service system to the location of the cloud object storage, the indication of the one or more operations specified by the one or more instructions,
• whereby transmittal of the indication to the location of the cloud object storage enables a another data processing system to recover the application files that are modified in accordance with the one or more operations unsupported by the cloud object storage.

One or more non-transitory computer-readable hardware storage devices storing instructions for enabling a usage of a cloud object storage for storing data accessed based on execution of one or more file operations that are unsupported by the cloud object storage, that, when the instructions executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operations including:

• executing, by a data processing system, an application, wherein the application is configured to access application files;
• wherein the application indicates, to a file service system, a location of cloud object storage for storing the application files;
• wherein the file service system is configured to:
• record an indication of one or more operations to modify the application files, wherein the one or more modification operations are unsupported by the cloud object storage, and
• store the indication in the location of the cloud object storage to enable recovery of the modified application files;
• as the application executes, generating one or more instructions to perform the one or more operations to modify the application files, wherein the one or more operations are unsupported by the cloud object storage;
• transmitting the one or more instructions to the file service system, the file service system representing the location of the cloud object storage;
• recording, at the file service system, an indication of the one or more operations specified by the one or more instructions;
• and
• transmitting, from the file service system to the location of the cloud object storage, the indication of the one or more operations specified by the one or more instructions,
• whereby transmittal of the indication to the location of the cloud object storage enables another data processing system to recover the application files that are modified in accordance with the one or more operations unsupported by the cloud object storage.
