Abstract
Implementations of the subject matter described herein provide a solution in which a quick and comfortable operation can be achieved while providing the improved intuitiveness. In the solution, a scroll assembly for use with a pointing device is provided. The scroll assembly comprises: a first scroll member for controlling a first movement of an object on a user interface; and at least one second scroll member for controlling a second movement of the object on the user interface, the second scroll member being adapted to, in response to an operation applied substantially in the first direction, rotate and provide a haptic feedback in a second direction that is substantially perpendicular to the first direction.
Claims19
A pointing device comprising:
- a controller for controlling movement of an object on a user interface;
- a first scroll wheel arranged in a first direction, the first scroll wheel operable to:
- receive a first scroll manipulation applied in the first direction;
- and
- generate a first signal to the controller for controlling a first movement of the object in the first direction;
- and
- a second scroll wheel adjustably arranged in a third direction at a non-90 degree angle with respect to the first direction, the second scroll wheel operable to:
- receive a second scroll manipulation applied substantially in the first direction;
- generate a second signal to the controller for controlling a second movement of the object in a second direction, wherein the second signal corresponds in part to the non-90 degree angle;
- and
- provide a haptic feedback in the second direction, the second direction being substantially perpendicular to the first direction.
A scroll assembly for use with a pointing device, comprising:
- a first scroll wheel operable to, in response to receiving a first scroll manipulation applied in a first direction,
- generate a first signal to a controller of the pointing device for controlling a first movement of an object on a user interface in the first direction, the first scroll wheel arranged in the first direction;
- and
- a second scroll wheel operable to, in response to receiving a second scroll manipulation applied substantially in the first direction,
- generate a second signal to the controller for controlling a second movement of the object on the user interface in a second direction, and
- provide a haptic feedback in the second direction, the second direction being substantially perpendicular to the first direction, wherein the second scroll wheel is arranged in a third direction at a non-90 degree angle with respect to the first direction, and
- wherein the second signal for controlling the second movement corresponds in part to the non-90 degree angle.
A mouse, comprising:
- a controller for controlling movements of an object on a user interface;
- a first scroll wheel operable to, in response to receiving a first scroll manipulation applied in a first direction, generate a first signal to the controller for controlling a first movement of the object on the user interface in the first direction, the first scroll wheel arranged in the first direction;
- and
- a second scroll wheel operable to, in response to receiving a second scroll manipulation applied substantially in the first direction, generate a second signal to the controller for controlling a second movement of the object on the user interface in a second direction, the second direction being substantially perpendicular to the first direction, wherein the second scroll wheel is arranged in a third direction, and wherein the third direction has a non-90 degree angle with respect to the first direction and the second signal corresponds in part to the non-90 degree angle.
