Burner liner

A foraminous burner liner for a gas abatement system, said burner liner comprising a hollow body defined by a wall, the wall comprising a plurality of interconnected substantially concentric layers;

• wherein each layer of the plurality of interconnected substantially concentric layers comprises a substantially regular openwork mesh comprising a plurality of circumferentially-spaced right-handed helical struts coupled to a plurality of circumferentially-spaced left-handed helical struts;
• wherein the substantially regular openwork mesh of each layer of the plurality of interconnected substantially concentric layers is configured such that it is out of phase with one or more adjacent layers of the plurality of interconnected substantially concentric layers, and wherein the plurality of interconnected substantially concentric layers are arranged such that the wall is optically opaque when viewed externally in any radially inward direction normal to the wall;
• wherein a first layer of the plurality of interconnected substantially concentric layers is connected to a second layer of the plurality of interconnected substantially concentric layers by a spacer layer comprising a plurality of circumferentially separated and longitudinally extending staves, wherein the staves are not connected to each other within the spacer layer.
