Abstract
An electronic control unit is provided for an electric power steering system. The electric power steering system includes a housing and an electric motor, and the electronic control unit is arranged inside the housing with an electrical connection to the electric motor. The electronic control unit includes at least one power board and a heat sink. The at least one power board is attached to the heat sink. A heat sink edge of the heat sink includes a groove, into which at least a portion of the housing is crimped to secure the heat sink with the housing. The electric power steering system is also provided.
Claims14
An electronic control unit for an electric power steering system, the electric power steering system including a housing and an electric motor, the electronic control unit being arranged inside the housing and being electrically connected to the electric motor, the electronic control unit comprising:
- at least one power board;
- and
- a heat sink attached to the at least one power board,
- wherein at least one circumferential outer surface of a heat sink edge of the heat sink is in direct contact with an inner surface of the housing such that heat generated by the at least one power board is conducted via the heat sink to the housing, and
- wherein at least a portion of the housing is crimped into a groove of the heat sink to secure the heat sink with the housing.
An electric power steering system comprising:
- an electric motor;
- a housing;
- and
- an electronic control unit arranged inside the housing and being electrically connected to the electric motor, the electronic control unit comprising:
- at least one power board;
- and
- a heat sink attached to the at least one power board,
- wherein the electric motor is electrically connected to the at least one power board by at least one electric motor connector,
- wherein at least one circumferential outer surface of a heat sink edge of the heat sink is in direct contact with an inner surface of the housing such that heat generated by the at least one power board is conducted via the heat sink to the housing, and
- wherein at least a portion of the housing is crimped into a groove of the heat sink to secure the heat sink with the housing.
