Printing system

A printing system comprising:

• a first printing machine including a first printing section configured to print on a medium transported in a transport direction and a first in-machine inversion section configured to inverse the medium printed by the first printing section;
• a first inversion device that is provided downstream of the first printing machine in the transport direction and that is configured to inverse the medium;
• a second printing machine that is provided downstream of the first inversion device in the transport direction and that has a second printing section configured to print on the medium;
• and
• a control section, wherein
• the first inversion device includes a first in-device inversion section configured to inverse the medium and a bypass transport section configured to transport the medium from the first printing machine toward the second printing machine without via the first in-device inversion section and
• when printing is performed on both surfaces of the medium in a state where an abnormality has occurred in the first in-device inversion section, the control section causes the first printing section to perform printing on a first surface of the medium, causes the first in-machine inversion section to inverse the printed medium, causes the inversed medium to be transported toward the second printing machine via the bypass transport section, and causes the second printing section to perform printing on a second surface of the medium.
