Abstract
Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to an air handling unit having a housing that defines an air flow path therethrough, a heat exchanger disposed within the air flow path and configured to flow a working fluid therethrough, and a nozzle configured to deliver a fire suppression agent into the air flow path.
Claims20
An air distribution system for a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system, comprising:
- a housing that defines an air flow path therethrough, wherein the housing is configured to direct an air flow along the air flow path and discharge the air flow toward a conditioned space within a building;
- a fan system disposed within the housing and configured to increase a speed of the air flow directed along the air flow path;
- a vessel offset from the fan system and configured to store a fire suppression agent;
- a conduit extending from the vessel and configured to direct the fire suppression agent therethrough;
- an orifice fluidly coupled to the conduit and configured to deliver the fire suppression agent into the air flow path within the housing;
- and
- a controller comprising a processor and a memory, wherein the memory comprises instructions that, when executed by the processor, are configured to cause the processor to:
- operate the fan system to adjust the speed of the air flow based on a parameter of air detected by a sensor;
- or
- adjust flow of the fire suppression agent through the orifice based on the parameter of air.
7 more elements
A system, comprising:
- an air distribution system configured to supply conditioned air to each zone of a plurality of zones via a plurality of supply air flow paths;
- a fire suppression system integrated within the air distribution system and configured to provide a fire suppression agent to the air distribution system;
- and
- a controller communicatively coupled to the air distribution system and the fire suppression system, wherein the controller comprises a processor and a memory, and the memory comprises instructions that, when executed by the processor, are configured to cause the processor to:
- receive first sensor data from a first sensor of a plurality of sensors, wherein the first sensor data is indicative of a first amount of combustion products in a first zone of the plurality of zones;
- and
- adjust a first damper disposed along a first supply air flow path of the plurality of supply air flow paths extending to the first zone of the plurality of zones toward a first open position to deliver the conditioned air, the fire suppression agent, or both to the first zone of the plurality of zones at a first flow rate based on the first sensor data.
4 more elements
A non-transitory, computer-readable medium comprising instructions that, when executed by a processor, are configured to cause the processor to:
- instruct a first damper disposed along a first supply air flow path extending to a first zone of a plurality of zones to adjust toward an open position to increase a first flow rate of conditioned air and fire suppression agent from a housing of an air distribution system to the first zone based on a detection of a first amount of combustion products within the first zone;
- and
- instruct a second damper disposed along a second supply air flow path extending to a second zone of the plurality of zones to adjust toward a closed position to decrease a second flow rate of conditioned air and fire suppression agent from the housing of the air distribution system to the second zone based on the detection of the first amount of combustion products in the first zone.
