Wearable drug delivery device

A drug delivery device for delivering pegfilgrastim, comprising:

• a housing having a surface;
• a buzzer configured to provide an audible indication that the drug delivery device has been activated based on being filled with an amount of pegfilgrastim;
• an adhesive pad associated with a lower surface of the housing and configured to removably attach to a human body surface;
• a source of pegfilgrastim;
• a plunger movably positioned within the source and movable longitudinally relative to the housing from a first position to a second position, wherein the plunger is configured for reversible movement;
• a fluid flow path between the source and the human body surface;
• a tube configured to define at least a portion of the fluid flow path, the tube being formed of a flexible material;
• a valve incorporated into the fluid flow path, the valve configured to selectively allow and prevent flow of the pegfilgrastim through the fluid flow path, the valve configured to move from a closed condition to an open condition upon an increase in pressure or force applied to the valve by the pegfilgrastim, wherein the valve moves back and forth between the open condition and the closed condition during a drug delivery routine;
• a needle configured to define at least a portion of the fluid flow path;
• a controller configured to execute the drug delivery routine;
• and
• an indicator light controlled by the controller to provide through the surface an indication that the drug delivery device is ready to begin a drug delivery procedure, an indication that the drug delivery device is performing the drug delivery procedure, and an indication that the drug delivery device has completed the drug delivery procedure.

A drug delivery device for delivering pegfilgrastim, comprising:

• a housing having a surface;
• a buzzer configured to provide an audible indication that the drug delivery device has been activated based on being filled with an amount of pegfilgrastim;
• an adhesive pad associated with a lower surface of the housing and configured to removably attach to a human body surface;
• a source of pegfilgrastim;
• a plunger movably positioned within the source and movable longitudinally relative to the housing from a first position to a second position, wherein the plunger is configured for reversible movement;
• a fluid flow path between the source and the human body surface;
• a tube configured to define at least a portion of the fluid flow path, the tube being formed of a flexible material;
• a valve incorporated into the fluid flow path, the valve configured to selectively allow and prevent flow of the pegfilgrastim through the fluid flow path, the valve configured to move from a closed condition to an open condition upon an increase in pressure or force applied to the valve by the pegfilgrastim, wherein the valve moves back and forth between the open condition and the closed condition during a drug delivery routine;
• a needle configured to define at least a portion of the fluid flow path;
• a controller configured to execute the drug delivery routine;
• and
• an indicator light controlled by the controller to provide through the surface an indication that the drug delivery device is performing a drug delivery procedure and an indication that the drug delivery device has completed the drug delivery procedure, wherein the valve is a check valve configured to automatically move from the closed condition to the open condition upon an increase in pressure or force applied to the check valve.
