Described herein are compounds, formulations, and methods for blocking sporozoite invasion and subsequent liver-stage parasite development of a protozoan parasite, such as Plasmodium falciparum.

A composition comprising Compound (1):
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof;
- and an antimalarial drug;
- wherein the antimalarial drug is primaquine.
A composition consisting of Compound (1):
