Internal seal for biopsy cap

A method of making a seal for use in combination with an endoscope, comprising:

• molding a seal as a single piece element, the seal molded to have a main body including a circumferential outer wall surrounding a central lumen, an outer surface of the outer wall includes a plurality of axial slits, and a plurality of projections extending radially outward from the wall away from the lumen, wherein the plurality of projections are molded in a series of circumferentially and angularly offset layers, wherein each of the projections extends from the outer wall to a tip configured to enter an exterior longitudinal channel of a device inserted into the central lumen, and the tips of the plurality of projections are spaced apart from one another and the plurality of projections are arranged with set angular offsets therebetween to extend in a spiral around the seal so that the tips of the plurality of projections engage the exterior longitudinal channel of the device regardless of the rotational orientation of the device within the central lumen;
• and
• turning the molded seal inside out such that the plurality of projections extend radially inward toward a center of the central lumen.
