Dishwasher and control method thereof

A dishwasher comprising:

• a tub;
• a door to open and close the tub;
• an input device to receive a selection of a washing course;
• and
• an automatic detergent dispenser including:
• a storage compartment having a support surface and in which a plurality of solid detergents are stackable so that the plurality of solid detergents are loaded in a vertical direction based on the tub being closed by the door and are supported by the support surface at a lowest position in the storage compartment,
• an ejector to discharge a solid detergent from the lowest position, among the plurality of solid detergents loaded in the storage compartment, the ejector including a cam member configured to rotate and press the lowest position solid detergent out of the storage compartment to discharge the solid detergent outside of the storage compartment,
• a seating member on which the solid detergent that is discharged by the ejector from the storage compartment is seatable,
• a detector to detect whether the solid detergent is seated on the seating member, and
• a processor configured to, based on the selection of the washing course being received through the input device:
• control the ejector to operate so that, based on the plurality of solid detergents being loaded in the storage compartment, the solid detergent among the plurality of solid detergents is discharged outside of the storage compartment to be seated on the seating member, and
• determine whether the solid detergent is seated on the seating member based on a detection result of the detector.
