Communication apparatus and method for adaptive cooling of antenna elements

A communication apparatus, comprising:

• a first antenna array comprising a first plurality of antenna elements mounted at a first location on a vehicle;
• a first plurality of thermoelectric devices arranged on the first plurality of antenna elements of the first antenna array such that each thermoelectric device covers a different subset of antenna elements of the first plurality of antenna elements;
• and
• a processor communicatively coupled to the first antenna array and the first plurality of thermoelectric devices, wherein the processor is configured to:
• determine a visibility status of the first antenna array to a network node when the vehicle is in motion;
• activate or deactivate the first antenna array based on the visibility status of the first antenna array;
• and
• control each of the first plurality of thermoelectric devices based on the activation of the first antenna array or the deactivation of the first antenna array.
