Abstract
The present application discloses a system and device for displaying content. The system includes two optical units. The two optical units are part of the system that is wearable. Each of the two optical units includes a front lit display and a light emitting diode (LED). The LED is used to front light the front lit display.
Claims19
A system, comprising:
- two optical units, wherein the two optical units are part of the system that is wearable, and wherein each of the two optical units comprises:
- a front lit e-ink display;
- a light guide, wherein the front lit e-ink display is front lit based at least in part on the light guide;
- a first light emitting diode (LED) and a second LED, wherein the first LED and the second LED are used to front light the front lit e-ink display, and wherein light from the first LED is injected into the side of the light guide;
- a circuit board onto which the front lit e-ink display and the first LED and the second LED are directly mounted, wherein the front lit e-ink display is mounted on the circuit board between the first LED and the second LED, and wherein the front lit e-ink display is disposed between circuit board and the light guide;
- and
- an opaque cover.

A method, comprising:
- providing two optical units, wherein the two optical units are part of the system that is wearable, and wherein each of the optical units comprises:
- a front lit e-ink display
- a light guide, wherein the front lit e-ink display is front lit based at least in part on the light guide;
- a first light emitting diode (LED) and a second LED, wherein the first LED and the second LED are used to front light the front lit e-ink display, and wherein light from the first LED is injected into the side of the light guide;
