Abstract
An inner tube for a bicycle tire is provided. The inner tube includes a vessel and a valve stem. The valve stem is coupled to the vessel and a end having a fastener, the end having a first opening having a first diameter. A cap is coupled to the fastener and has a pin passage with a second diameter. The cap has a concavity on an outer diameter. A circular seal is disposed between the cap and the second end, the seal having a second hole having a third diameter that fluidly couples the first opening and the pin passage, the third diameter being smaller than the pin passage. A biasing member is disposed within the first hole. A sealing member is movably disposed within the first opening and is biased against the seal by the biasing member.

An inner tube and inflation system for a bicycle tire comprising:
- a vessel configured to receive pressurized air;
- and
- a valve stem having a first end coupled to the vessel and an opposing second end having a fastener, the second end having a first opening having a first diameter;
- a cap member coupled to the fastener, the cap member having a pin passage therethough, the pin passage having a second diameter, the cap member having a circumferential concavity formed in an outer diameter;
- a seal having a circular shape, the seal being disposed between the cap member and the second end, the seal having a second hole having a third diameter that fluidly couples the first opening and the pin passage, the third diameter being smaller than the pin passage;
- a biasing member disposed within the first opening;
- a sealing member movably disposed within the first opening and biased against the seal by the biasing member, the sealing member being movable between a first position and a second position engaging the seal and sealing the first opening from the pin passage;
- and
- a pump head having a pump head coupling member, the pump head coupling member having an inner diameter greater than the outer diameter of the cap member, the pump head coupling member having a sleeve fixed to the coupling member and biasing the semi-hemispherical surface of the pump head coupling member towards the inner diameter and into the circumferential concavity when engaging the pump head coupling member to the cap member, the pump head further having an inflation pin sized and dimensioned to be inserted into the pin passage, the inflation pin moving the sealing member between the first position and the second position to unseal the first opening from the pin passage when the pump head is engaged with the cap member;
- wherein the circumferential concavity is axially positioned between an end of the seal and an end of the cap member, the circumferential concavity having a continuous curved surface with a radius configured to receive a semi-hemispherical surface of the pump head coupling member.
An inner tube and inflation system for a bicycle tire comprising:
