Abstract
An electrified fire fighting vehicle includes a chassis having a pair of frame rails, a cab coupled to the chassis, a body coupled to the chassis rearward of the cab, an electric motor coupled to the chassis between the pair of frame rails, an energy storage system positioned between the cab and the body, and a shield. The energy storage system includes a power cable coupled to the electric motor. The shield is positioned (a) between the pair of frame rails and (b) at least partially along and around a motor housing of the electric motor such that the power cable is disposed between the motor housing and the shield.
Claims18
An electrified fire fighting vehicle comprising:
- a chassis having a pair of frame rails;
- a cab coupled to the chassis;
- a body coupled to the chassis rearward of the cab;
- an electric motor coupled to the chassis between the pair of frame rails;
- an energy storage system positioned between the cab and the body, the energy storage system including a housing and a power cable coupled to the electric motor;
- and
- a shield positioned (a) between the pair of frame rails and (b) at least partially along and around a motor housing of the electric motor such that the power cable is disposed between the motor housing and the shield;
- wherein at least one of:
- (i) an end of the shield is coupled to the housing;
- (ii) the shield includes a flange extending radially outward from the end of the shield;
- (iii) the housing defines a channel positioned proximate a lower edge thereof, and the power cable extends through the channel, between the shield and the motor housing, and to a connection interface of the electric motor;
- or
- (iv) an external portion of the power cable positioned external to the housing (a) is positioned between the pair of frame rails, (b) is positioned beneath an upper surface of the pair of frame rails, and (c) at no point crosses over or under the pair of frame rails.
An electrified vehicle comprising:
- a chassis;
- a cab coupled to the chassis;
- a body coupled to the chassis rearward of the cab;
- an electric motor coupled to the chassis;
- an energy storage system positioned between the cab and the body, the energy storage system including a housing and a power cable coupled to the electric motor;
- and
- a shield positioned at least partially along and around the electric motor such that the power cable is disposed within a space between the electric motor and the shield;
- wherein at least one of:
- (i) an end of the shield is coupled to the housing;
- ii) the shield includes a flange extending radially outward from the end of the shield;
- or
- (iii) the housing defines a channel positioned proximate a lower edge thereof, and the power cable extends through the channel, between the shield and the electric motor within the space, and to a connection interface of the electric motor.
An electrified vehicle comprising:
- a chassis having a pair of frame rails;
- an electric motor coupled to the chassis between the pair of frame rails;
- an energy storage system including:
- a housing coupled to the chassis, the housing defining a channel positioned proximate a lower edge thereof;
- a battery pack disposed within the housing;
- and
- a power distribution system disposed within the housing and electrically coupled to the battery pack;
- a shield positioned at least partially along and around the electric motor defining a space therebetween, an end of the shield positioned proximate the housing;
- and
- a power cable extending from the power distribution system, through the channel, between the shield and the electric motor within the space, to a connection interface of the electric motor.
