Abstract
A method includes obtaining a metal substrate coated with a polymeric film which includes a first polymer obtained using a cationic photoinitiator and a second polymer obtained using a free-radical photoinitiator. The method further includes deep drawing the metal substrate and the polymeric film while the polymeric film is in a first crosslink density state and curing the deep-drawn polymeric film to achieve a second crosslink density state.
Claims15
A method comprising:
- obtaining a metal substrate coated with a polymeric film comprising:
- a first polymer comprising a reaction product of a cationic photoinitiator and (3,4-epoxycyclohexylmethyl) adipate;
- and
- a second polymer comprising a reaction product of a free-radical photoinitiator and a vinyl ether selected from 4-hydroxybutyl vinyl ether and triethyleneglycol divinyl ether;
- and
- a third polymer comprising a reaction product of a hydroxyl functional monomer and a thermal curing agent;
- deep drawing the metal substrate and the polymeric film while the polymeric film is in a first crosslink density state;
- and
- curing the deep-drawn polymeric film to achieve a second crosslink density state.
