Shelving unit tie bar

A shelf for a shelving unit comprising:

• a front shelf-support beam removably connectable to a back shelf-support beam with a tie bar having a first tri-notch connection on a front end and a second tri-notch connection on a back end, wherein the tie bar is formed from a V-channel, wherein the first tri-notch connection and the second tri-notch connection each comprises a top notch that forms a void at a distal end of the tie bar, a first bottom notch, and a second bottom notch, wherein the first and second bottom notches each comprise an inner edge that is parallel to an outer edge, an enclosed top end, and an open bottom end at a bottom of the tie bar, wherein the front shelf-support beam does not include a slot, wherein the tie bar does not include a tab adapted to mate with a slot in the front shelf-support beam, wherein the front shelf-support beam comprises a shelf-support flange, a bottom flange, and an upward facing retention flange extending upwardly from the bottom flange, wherein the first bottom notch and the second bottom notch are sized and shaped to receive the upward facing retention flange of the front shelf-support beam,
• wherein the inner edge is in direct contact with a face of the upward facing retention flange when the tie bar is installed, and wherein the top notch is in direct contact with the shelf-support flange when the tie bar is installed.

A shelf for a shelving unit comprising:

• a front shelf-support beam removably connectable to a back shelf-support beam with a tie bar having a first tri-notch connection on a front end and a second tri-notch connection on a back end, wherein the first tri-notch connection and the second tri-notch connection each comprises a top notch that forms a void at a distal end of the tie bar, a first bottom notch, and a second bottom notch, wherein the first and second bottom notches each comprise an inner edge that is parallel to an outer edge, an enclosed top end, and an open bottom end at a bottom of the tie bar, wherein the front shelf-support beam does not include a slot, wherein the tie bar does not include a tab adapted to mate with a slot in the front shelf-support beam, wherein the front shelf-support beam comprises a shelf-support flange, a bottom flange, and an upward facing retention flange extending upwardly from the bottom flange, wherein the first bottom notch and the second bottom notch are sized and shaped to receive the upward facing retention flange of the front shelf-support beam, wherein the inner edge is in direct contact with a face of the upward facing retention flange when the tie bar is installed, and wherein the top notch is in direct contact with the shelf-support flange when the tie bar is installed.
