Abstract
This disclosure is directed to systems and methods of data partitioning in image encoding. A video encoder may receive a single stream of video data that includes multiple layers. The video encoder may encode the one or more layers utilizing multiple counters for each component within the layers. The multiple counters may correspond to the header bits, luma bits, and chroma bits within each slice layer. The encoded layers may then be assembled into a single slice before it is sent to a decoder for decoding of image frame.
Claims19
An electronic device comprising:
- a network interface configured to receive a stream of image data comprising one or more image slices partitioned into multiple layers, wherein each of the multiple layers comprises different discrete cosine transform (DCT) coefficients and wherein a total number of the DCT coefficients varies based on available bandwidth;
- and image processing circuitry configured to:
- receive the stream of image data from the network interface;
- and
- encode the stream of image data based on a header that identifies the multiple layers corresponding to the different DCT coefficients, wherein multiple counters corresponding to a number of header bits, a number of luma bits, and a number of chroma bits are used during encoding of each layer of the stream of image data;
- and
- assemble multiple layers of the stream of image data into a single image slice after encoding of the multiple layers.
A tangible, non-transitory, machine-readable medium comprising instructions that, when executed by processing circuitry, causes the processing circuitry to perform operations comprising:
- determining a number of partitions within a slice of streaming image data, wherein different partitions correspond to different sets of discrete cosine transform (DCT) coefficients and wherein the number of partitions varies based on available bandwidth;
- encoding each partition within the slice of the streaming image data using at least four counters for each partition within the slice of the streaming image data, wherein the at least four counters correspond to a number of header bits, a number of luma bits, and a number of chroma bits;
- and
- assembling the partitions within the slice of the streaming image data into an unpartitioned version of the slice.
An electronic device comprising:
- a network interface configured to receive a stream of video data comprising one or more image slices partitioned into a plurality of layers;
- and
- encoder circuitry configured to:
- encode each layer of the plurality of layers using at least four counters for each layer of the plurality of layers, wherein the at least four counters comprise a number of header bits, a number of luma bits, and a number of chroma bits;
- and
- assemble each layer of the plurality of layers into a single slice.
