A method of controlling tissue treatment of a patient during a surgical procedure via a surgical analytics system, wherein the surgical analytics system is communicably coupled to a network of surgical hubs and an aggregated medical record database configured to store aggregated medical data received from the network of surgical hubs, wherein the aggregated medical data comprises a medical record associated with a patient, wherein a first surgical hub of the network of surgical hubs is configured to be communicably coupled to a surgical instrument, wherein the surgical instrument is configured for use during the surgical procedure, wherein the surgical instrument is configured to operate according to a control program, and wherein the control program defines a tissue treatment parameter for performing a tissue-altering actuation of the surgical instrument, the tissue treatment parameter comprising any one or more of a firing force, a clamping force, an ultrasonic energy level, or a radiofrequency energy level, the method comprising:
- receiving, via a control circuit of the surgical analytics system, a signal from the first surgical hub, wherein the signal is associated with perioperative data generated by the surgical instrument during the surgical procedure, wherein the perioperative data comprises operational data indicating a manner in which the control program operated surgical device during the surgical procedure;
- determining, via the control circuit, a surgical context based, at least in part, on the perioperative data;
- receiving, via the control circuit, the medical record associated with the patient stored by the aggregated medical records database;
- correlating, via the control circuit, the determined surgical context and the medical record associated with the patient with other data of the aggregated medical data stored by the aggregated medical records database;
- and
- transmitting, in real time to the first surgical hub via the control circuit, an update to the control program automatically causing the surgical instrument to perform the tissue-altering actuation according to a modified tissue treatment parameter during the surgical procedure, wherein the modified tissue treatment parameter is based, at least in part, on the correlation.
